Fans of the Rocky/Creed franchise have strong emotions! Two stories have recently fallen on Saga, one good, the other bad. Which one should we start with?
After the success of the first two Creeds, which brought in $400 million worldwide, the third installment quickly took off.
This time, the director of the film Michael B. Jordan was tasked, handed over to Ryan Coogler and Steven Caple Jr. and took on his own saga.
So he is freed from the aura of his mentor, Rocky Balboa (Sylvester Stallone), who will not return in this 3rd installment.
The bad news: the release has been delayed by a few months
We’ll have to wait until we see Adonis Creed in the ring. Expected for a November 2022 release, the feature film has been pushed back to the first quarter of 2023, no doubt to avoid competition from Black Panther 2, in theaters on November 9.
In this new opus, Adonis Creed must face an unforgiving adversary led by Jonathan Majors, aka Kang, the MCU’s new big bad. Tessa Thompson will reprise her role as Bianca, Creed’s fiancee. As for Phylicia Rashad, she will once again play Mary Anne, the boxer’s mother.
Good news: a spin-off is in the works
This bad news about the film’s delay is accompanied by a much better announcement dedicated to Ivan Drago’s family. The latter was Rocky’s memorable opponent in the 4th installment of the franchise.
according to DeadlineThe film will focus on the relationship between a former Russian boxer and his son Viktor, Adonis’ formidable rival in Creed 2.
In 2018, Dolph Lundgren and Florian Munteanu, the interpreters of these characters, already mentioned the idea of a possible spin-off feature film about Ivan and Victor.
“I want to see a movie about Dragos. I want to speak in Russian, with subtitles”, Lundgren was speaking into our microphone. “You can see young Draco going to school learning new languages”The actor was delighted.
Dolph Lundgren and Florian Munteanu
“We have to wait for the audience to come back to our characters”Toned down by Florian Munteanu. “But for now, Echo is good. So it’s possible that one day they’ll have a movie. We’ll see.”– the actor confided.
So the day has come, Victor and Ivan will be allowed to make their own feature film, to be written by Robert Lawton (Crave). No additional information about the plot, cast or director has been released. Will Sylvester Stallone return as The Rock? Answer me soon!
And what rock spin-off after Creed? The camera crew responds.
