Between the absurd and the fun, the film transforms a medical condition into a “superpower”, leading us to an adventure outside the box
Novocaine: Painproof Mix the growing chaos of A day of fury1993 feature Michael Douglaswith the unpretentious mood of Saturday afternoon comedies. However, the differential of the novelty, which hits Brazilian theaters from this Thursday (27), is in the exaggerated form as the rescue of a “beloved” person is dealing.
In the feature, Nathan Caine (Jack Quaid, Perfect escort) is a man with a rare condition: he feels no pain. Even with the skill, your life is quite regular … until you know Sherry Margrave (Amber Midthunder, The Predator: The Hunt). In love with the girl, Nate Uses her “superpower” to rescue her when she finds out she was kidnapped.
Mixing comedy and action, Novocaine: Painproof It seeks to be a light and relaxed experience, which results in creative action scenes, without so much focus on dialogues, which are shallow. The highlight goes to cynical humor, which opposes well with the moments when the pain is portrayed and can generate a certain discomfort in the viewers.
Despite having a nice pace to accompany, the feature leaves something to be desired in some ways. Like the dialogues, the motivations of the characters are also shallow and their construction is, to say the least, unstable, as is the case with Ray Nicholson (Smile 2).
Finally, Novocaine: Painproof Nor does it know when to stop, and by prolonging previously exploited situations, it becomes repetitive and losing some of its brightness. Still, the feature is worth the ticket if you are looking for fun without many complications.
