Pau Freixasdirector and screenwriter of films such as ‘Camera Obscura’ (2003), and director of several series such as ‘The Mysteries of Laura’, ‘Red Bracelets’ or ‘I know who you are’ among many others, is in charge of the new series of Movistar +, ‘Everyone lies’.
The Serie, composed of six chapters of 45 minutes, is a thriller with touches of suspense, drama and black humor, with unpredictable and impulsive characters and with many conflicts to resolve, including a crime. Lies, secrets, alliances or marital and vital crises, are some of the pieces that make up this complex puzzle.
‘Everybody Lies’: Synopsis
Macarena sleeps with her best friend’s son and someone uploads the video to the internet. That day, life in Belmonte, a peaceful upper-class urbanization, is turned upside down. From there, a frantic chain of consequences makes all its inhabitants face their miseries and deepest secrets.
Friends who hate each other, children with parallel lives, marriages in the form of scams, unexpected lovers, Japanese knives that change hands, marital crisis, and to complicate everything a little more, a terrible murder. A mystery that will not be easy to unravel because, whoever you ask, everyone lies.

‘Everyone lies’: Characters
Below we detail the characters in the series.
Macarena (Irene Arcos): She is a well-loved woman in her community, with a perfect family, good friends, and her students’ favorite teacher. Despite having things that many would like, she is not happy and everything bores her, including her husband Néstor (Leonardo Sbaraglia). She stands out for her charm and her impulsive nature.
Ana (Natalia Verbeke): Ana is an emotional woman, with great sensitivity and she torments herself excessively, thinking about things too much. She works as a full-time mother, her children are her main concern, although she sometimes feels overwhelmed and insecure. Ana has been married to Diego (Ernesto Alterio) for years, although she is no longer in love with him.
Yolanda (Eva Santolaria): Yolanda can do ten things at the same time: she listens to her husband as he gestures to his daughter to start studying and out of the corner of her eye she analyzes if the assistant leaves a speck of dust on the shelf. Behind that controlling character there is a smart, fast woman who measures her words and does not allow herself to act on impulse. When the secrets come out in Belmonte, the traumas of her past will surface.
Maite (Look at Ibarguren): a character chaos: she is messy in any area, also emotionally, even in her way of speaking and expressing herself. She is an expert in screwing up and saying what she thinks without filter or worries. When Sergio (Juan Diego Botto) left her for another, Maite collapsed and isolated herself from everything. As chief police officer of Belmonte, he will have to solve the murder of a person very close to him.
Sofia (Amazon Salamanca): a woman who achieves everything she proposes, she is a great lawyer and her ambition, intelligence and insight have led her to rise rapidly within the firm where she works. There she met Sergio and fell in love with him. They form an unconventional marriage where only they make the rules.
Nestor (Leonardo Sbaraglia): the most cerebral character of all. He is a psychiatrist expert in psychoanalysis, something that he applies every day in his personal life. Loyal friend, cool dad and the perfect husband. Faced with Macarena’s impulsive character, he represents stability and calm.
Diego (Ernesto Alterio): Diego is an entrepreneur who worked very hard to build his company. He is an authoritarian man, with aggressive behavior and no emotional intelligence, which makes him unable to empathize with others. He cannot communicate with his wife or his children without yelling or arguing.
Arthur (Jorge Bosch): affable, calm and folksy, he fixes any uncomfortable situation with a bad joke. Arturo is in love with her wife, Yolanda, and what scares him the most is disappointing her. He will do anything as long as she doesn’t find out the secret she keeps from her.
Sergio (Juan Diego Botto) : Sergio is a carefree, positive and self-confident man. He takes life with irony and satire, even if the situation is dramatic. For him, crises are opportunities for change and the best time to take advantage of the situation. He is a good lawyer, although the personal situation of his sister Macarena will put him against a rock and a hard place.
Ivan (Lucas Nabor): Intelligent and mysterious, he could be considered the black sheep of Belmonte and his family. He doesn’t like to pretend and feels that he doesn’t fit in. He is a rebellious boy angry with the world, for him there is only “now” and that is why he wants to take advantage of the present, without paying attention to his own family. Iván is madly in love with Macarena, a young and sick infatuation that drives him mad.
Lucy (Berta Castañé): a beautiful, intelligent teenager who has received a very good education and is the most popular in the institute. The divorce of her parents was a hard moment for her, especially when her mother, Maite, refused custody of her, seeing herself as completely unstable and unable to care for her. That is why she has a very close and complicit relationship with her father, Sergio. Now Maite tries to get her back, but she doesn’t make it easy for her.
Natalie (Carmen Arrufat): She is the exemplary student and the most responsible daughter. She can’t help but be the best at everything, projecting a false self-confidence capable of irritating the people around her. Beneath her appearance as a know-it-all and a perfect teenager, she hides thousands of insecurities that even her parents don’t know about.
Iris (Lu Colomina) and Oscar (Marc Balaguer): Iris and Óscar are twins but they are antagonistic, the children of Yolanda and Arturo. Iris is an expert at getting on her mother’s nerves and Óscar is the good boy. They can’t stand each other.
