Disco arrives on Friday (28) on platforms and mixes northeastern rhythms, pop and electronic music
The singer, songwriter and dancer Flade Iron releases this Friday (28) your new album, Radical affection. The album is the third solo work of the artist Recife and marks a new phase in its career, with the proposal to unite the strength of the northeastern popular rhythms with the influences of rock, pop and electronic music, with a contemporary and experimental approach.
Recorded between Recife and São Paulo, with music production of GUILHERME KASTRUP, Radical affection gathers 11 unpublished tracks and collaborations with renowned names of Brazilian music, such as Lenin, Elba Ramalho and Lais de Assis. The project also has the participation of Dora Morelenbaum in the string arrangements, Vanessa Moreno in the backing vocals and partnerships with composers from Pernambuco and Paraíba.

“Lenine and Elba Ramalho are artists that I always admired for the way they cross the northeastern popular culture, connecting it with other musical aesthetics and showing this multifaceted character. Having them on the album was a very special experience.”

Lenin participates in the title track, Radical affectionwhich explores frevo in dialogue with rock. Elba Ramalho lends his voice in The moodsong with influences of rural maracatu and capoeira.
“These collaborations not only enriched the sound of the album, but also reaffirmed this desire to make music connected with the roots without failing to look at new possibilities,” he added.
The title of the album came from Flaira’s reflections during the puerperium after the birth of his first child. The experience of motherhood is through the concept of the project, which also discusses topics such as the acceleration of life, the standardization of desires and the precariousness of the food industry.
“Frevo, for me, is a living expression, always reinventing itself and following the transformations of time. My intention in Radical affection It was precisely to bring this essence of change and freedom to dialogue with other sounds. ”
The album also features references ranging from Alceu Valença, Cátia de France and Mutant the Rosalia, STOMP and Itamar Assumpção. The production was funded by Functionbeing Flaira’s first work contemplated by an incentive law.
The single Radical affection was released in February and won a clip recorded in the center of Recife, directed by Mary Gatis. The choreography was created by Flaira in partnership with the dancers Inaê Silva and Gabi Carvalho.
