The Bota-Fora project serves 10 communities in Porto Alegre; Take a look at this week’s program

Residents should put the materials in front of the houses the night before or until 7:30 on the day of the funeral boot.

The Bota-Fora project, promoted by the municipal urban cleaning department (DMLU), takes place this Tuesday 1, until Friday, 4, in ten communities. The action is performed from 8:00 and aims to collaborate with the correct disposal of waste that are not collected by regular collections.

Appliances, broken furniture, mattresses, among other voluminous objects, can be arranged. This prevents the irregular waste material from extensions, wolf mouths and cause flooding. The project serves 237 socially vulnerable communities.

Residents should put the materials in front of the houses the night before or until 7:30 on the day of the funeral boot. The dissemination of the service is made through posters placed in healthcare facilities, markets, schools, bars and neighborhood associations.

According to the general manager Dmlu Carlos Alberto Hundertmarker, the resumption of the project in 2025 strengthens the importance of correct waste management for urban sustainability. “The boot is an opportunity to start the year with particular attention to environmental conservation and improvement of the quality of life in the communities served. Our goal is to ensure that these waste is discarded correctly and safely, avoiding damage to the environment and the infrastructure of the city”, he says.

Ecopontos – In addition to the boot, the disposal of these materials can be performed directly on one of the right destination units DMLU (UDC). UDCs, also called Ecopoint, receive wood, old furniture and rubble and are strategically distributed throughout the city – see the addresses here. For those who have difficulty going to one of the units, there is still the possibility of taking the special collection service, with the budget created by the Town Hall service system, 156.

To consult the next communities that will be served by the first cycle of the boot in 2025 ,. DMLU is part of the municipal secretariat of urban services (SMURB).
