THE China National Offshore Oil Corporation (CNOOC) announced on Monday 31, the discovery of A Large oil field in the East of the Southern Chinese Sea, with reserves that exceed the 100 million tons.
The Huizhou 19-6 camp is located about 170 km from the city of Shenzhen, in the province of Guangdong, in the south of the country, said the official press agency Xinhua.
The executive president of the state giant of oil, Zhou Xinhuai, celebrated “subsequent progress in the exploration of oil and gas in the oriental waters of the southern Chinese Sea”.
The discovery was interpreted as a “great advance” for the company’s experts.
The perforation tests performed by the oil company caused a daily production of 413 barrels of gross oil and 68,000 cubic meters of natural gas, according to Xinhua.
The Energy Information Agency of the United States stated that the Southern Chinese Sea remains largely unexplored due to territorial disputes, but most of the oil and gas discoveries occurred in areas not said.
China claims most of the sea, although it is contested by Philippines, Malaysia, Vietnam, Indonesia and Brunei.
