Former president Jair Bolsonaro called “clear judicial activism of the left” the sentence suffered on Monday by the far -right leader in France, Marine Le Pen, who makes it unable to hold public offices for five years and said he suffered the same type of persecution in Brazil.
In an interview with Reuters by phone, Bolsonaro said he also believed that the legal persecution towards politicians in his field is spreading all over the world.
“This decision is a clear judicial activism on the left,” he accused.
“The complaint against me is also smoke and who will judge us at least one question. What undue appropriate appeal is that of Le Pen? The Trump has also been accused of something similar in the United States, he has faced, he is a billionaire, leader of the largest party, he managed to face,” he said.
Le Pen, who leads the polls for the presidential elections in France in 2027, was sentenced next to two other people from his party, the national meeting, accused of having diverted more than 4 million euros by the European Parliament to pay French -based employees.
They claimed that the money was legitimately used and that the accusations have defined a parliamentary assistant very strictly.
Bolsonaro was declared not admissible by 2030 by the Superior Electoral Court (TSE) for convictions of abuse of political and economic power and abuse of the media during the 2022 presidential campaign.
Last week, he also became a defendant to the Supreme Court (Stf) accused of an attempt at a coup d’état after being defeated in the elections.
