In a new interview, actor reflects on the different directions of his career and his friend after indomitable genius
Ben Affleck stated that Matt Damon He took a “wise choice” in deciding to accept papers based on the directors involved in each project. The statement was made in an interview with the magazine GQin which the actor recalls the path they both followed after the success of Indomitable genius(1997), a film that yielded the duo the Oscar of Best Original Screenplay.
“I thought you were going to compare our actor careers, what I would have said, well, Matt learned and knew before me to really focus on the director as the fundamental base he will make a decision about making a movie or not, which was a very wise choice,” said Affleck.
After the Oscar, Damon worked with names like Steven Spielberg (The rescue of the Soldier Ryan), Anthony Minghella, Robert Redford, Steven Soderbergh And, more recently, with Christopher Nolanin collaborations like Interstellar, OPPENHEIMER and the new project Odyssey. Already Affleck stood out in blockbusters as Armageddon, Pearl Harbor and Demolishing.
“And also he certainly had opportunities to make movies he likes – it’s not like saying, ‘No, Scorsese, no, Spielberg, I won’t be in his movie,'” joked the actor. “We are subject to the opportunities that appear.”
