Director Martin Scorsese and actor Leonardo DiCaprio will once again work together. The project of their seventh film collaboration is the adaptation of an unreleased book: “The Wager: A Tale of Shipwreck, Mutiny, and Murder”.

It’s a naval mystery written by David Grann (author of “Z: The Lost City”), with an editorial release scheduled for April next year. The plot follows the crew of an 18th-century British ship, who, during a secret mission to take treasure from a Spanish galleon, ends up shipwrecked on a deserted island off the coast of Patagonia. Some of the survivors end up in Brazil on some kind of makeshift raft, while another arrives in Chile, and the versions of their stories do not match. Indeed, one side accuses the other of treason.

Scorsese will direct and DiCaprio will star in the film, which will be funded by Apple TV +.

Therefore, the duo also strengthens their partnership with Apple streaming, after finishing filming on “Killers of the Flower Moon”, their sixth work together, which is scheduled to premiere in 2023.

“Killers of the Flower Moon”, by the way, is also an adaptation of a book by David Grann. Therefore, the two had access to the text before its publication.

The collaboration between Scorsese and DiCaprio began in 2002, with “Gangs of New York”, and has extended through the hits “The Aviator” (2004), “The Departed” (2006), “Island of Fear” (2010) and “The Wolf of Wall Street” (2013).

DiCaprio is second only to Robert De Niro as an actor who has worked with the director most often. Longer, De Niro’s collaboration began in 1973 with “Dangerous Roads” and includes “Taxi Driver” (1976), “New York, New York” (1977), “Raging Bull” (1980), “The King of Comedy “(1982). ), “Goodfellas” (1990), “Cape Fear” (1991), “Casino” (1991), “The Irishman” (2019) and the upcoming “Killers of the Flower Moon”, the first film that reunites De Niro and DiCaprio.
