Vinitaly happens in Verona until April 9th
This Sunday (6) began the 57th edition of Vinitaly, the main world of wine and spirits and which takes place until April 9 in Verona, northern Italy, among the fears about the impacts on the president of the President of the United States, Donald Trump.
From next Wednesday (9), Italian Wines will pay a 20% rate – applied to all imports from the European Union – to enter the US market, a destination coveted by cellars across the country.
“We can estimate a potential loss of up to 390 million euros [R$ 2,5 bilhões] For Italian wine producers, “said the Confederation of Coldiretti farmers, adding that importers in the United States are already asking producers in Italy to reduce prices to compensate for the rate.
Fearing a climb that could further damage “in Italy”, the Minister of Affairs Adolfo Urso declared to the opening of Vinitaly that Europe needs to adopt a “weighted, responsible and aware reaction to avoid a commercial war”.
The event brings together about 4,000 exhibitors in 18 pavilions and should accommodate buyers of about 140 countries, increasing a strategic sector for the Italian economy.
This market uses almost 1 million people in “Belpaese” and corresponds to 1.1% of the national gross domestic product (GDP).
Despite the recent rate, the trust of the US buyers remains high, with 3,000 of them confirmed in Vinitaly, number in line with previous editions.
Other countries with coherent delegations are Brazil, Canada, China, South Korea, India, Japan, the United Kingdom and Singapore. Veronafiere’s expectation, organizer of the fair, is to receive more than 30 thousand people abroad during the event. .
