After a successful passage through theaters, Globoplay’s first original production reaches the streaming platform catalog on Sunday (6)
After a successful passage through theaters, which earned Brazil the first Oscar, I’m still here, Walter Salles (Central do Brasil), arrives at the Globoplay catalog from this Sunday, April 6, with the expectation of extending the success of the feature, now in streaming.
In an interview with Rolling Stone Brazil, Tatiana CostaDirector of Globo Entertainment and News & Content Channels, spoke about the success of Globoplay’s first original production, its impact on national cinema and what are the plans to invest in new cinematic phenomena as was the case with I’m still here.
I’m still here It was a movie that ended up conquering the world, but Victorywhich is also an original Globoplay production, has been very successful here in Brazil since its release. How is the selection process of the works in which you will invest?
Tatiana Costa:We are thrilled with the success of I’m still hereand Victorywhich opened with golden key our original films production. I’m still here It won the heart of the public and critics, with almost 6 million viewers and about 40 awards. Already Victory It is building an incredible trajectory, attracting more than 550,000 spectators so far.
These results are a testimony of our bet on quality cinema, which especially values Brazilian talent. We are surrounded by the best industry professionals, and all our productions have big names involved, from creating people ahead or behind the cameras.
In addition, we seek productions that have commercial appeal, attracting public and visibility to our originals. Globoplay comes to add to this Globo movie ecosystem, adding value to important brands such as Globo Filmes, Telecine, Canal Brasil and TV Globo that has been strengthening Brazilian cinema for decades, and we are proud to be part of this trajectory. Our commitment is to continue producing quality movies, which inspire and entertain the Brazilian public.
The victory of I’m still here Did Oscar change the plans of Globoplay and its investments in national cinema in any way? Was it an impulse to perhaps invest in even more movies?
TC:We were certain that I’m still here It would be a success, for all the qualities that make it a great movie, but we never imagined that we would win the Oscar and two other nominations to the awards. This, of course, serves as an incentive to continue our movement of investing in movies, but we already had a treadmill of scheduled releases.
After I’m still herewe launched Victoryand next year we will launch In the line of firepart of our co -production agreement with Disney for the production of four Brazilian feature films. Other original films, which were very well received at festivals, such as Blood -bearded and Burly your deadthey are also in our pipeline of releases, but still without date.
We took a big step, but it’s still just a step. How does Globoplay want to contribute to bring more movies to the world?
TC:For sure, and Globo has been contributing to the strengthening of national cinema for over 25 years, since the resumption, through Globo Filmes, its co -producer. Recently, we were proud to see The last bluea co -production of Globo Filmes, winning the silver bear. On May 15th, let’s debut Manaswhich reaches Brazilian theaters after winning more than 30 awards at festivals around the world.
And now Globoplay adds to this journey as an important actor to position Brazilian cinema among the best in the world. We believe that a successful trajectory in movie theaters also means a successful streaming trajectory. I’m still here It was exclusively in theaters for 150 days.
Are you already in touch with international distributors to bring these movies to the world? How is the relationship with these companies?
TC:We have different models of distribution of our films, including international partnerships that help expand the reach of our productions outside Brazil. In some cases, the relationship with these distributors is mediated by partner producers, such as videooffilms, conspiracy and gullane.
In addition, we have co-production agreements-as we did with Disney, which involves four feature films, starting with In the line of fire –that allow these films to be shown in other countries. We feel that our brands ecosystem, the commitment to the window of theaters and our network of relationships with artistic talents are differential in these partnerships.
