The director Matt Shakman revealed that Fantastic Four: First Steps It will be set in an alternative universe without connections with other Marvel movies. The proposal, he said, is to present an independent story, without appearances from other heroes or cross -references.
“We are in our own universe, which is wonderful and liberating. There is no other heroes, there is no Iron Man, none of this. They are the only ones in this world. It is a corner of our MCU,” Shakman said in an interview with the magazine Wrappublished on April 4.

The setting of the plot will be retro-actor, inspired by the aesthetics of the space race and the optimism of the 1950s and 1960s. The director compared the mood of the feature with that of a science fiction classic:
“I really wanted to make the film look like in 1965, the way Stanley Kubrick It would have done, ”he explained.“ We wore old lenses and a more of the time of the time.
