The Minister of Communications, Juscelino Filho (UNIão Brasil-Ma), delivered his dismissal letter on Tuesday 8, after being reported by the Prosecutor General Office (PGR) to the Supreme Court (STF), for false declaration of parliamentary amendments. In the document he says that this was one of the most difficult decisions of his public trajectory.

“Today I made one of the most difficult decisions of my public career. I asked President Luiz Inacio da Silva my dismissal from the position of the Minister of Communications,” Juscelino wrote in the letter. “I did not do it for lack of commitment, on the contrary. I go to believe that, at this moment, the most important thing is to protect the country’s project that we help build and continue to believe.”

In 2023, the newspaper The state of S. Paulo He showed that the PGR denounced Juscelino to the Supreme Court after the investigations revealed that the Minister, at the time of the Federal deputy, intended for changes to the Union’s balance sheet to the city of Vitore Freire (but) to asphalt a road that crossed his family farm. At the time, the Municipality was administered by Lunna Rezende, sister of the communications holder. It was even removed from the city during the investigation.

According to information published in EstadãoFrom an early age, in confidential conversations, Lula’s interlocutors have already said that Juscelino’s situation was unsustainable and waited for his resignation. The president spoke to the minister with a phone and said he wanted to speak to him personally, but hours after the minister he decided to resign.

In a declaration, Juscelino’s lawyers stressed that “reaffirms his total innocence and underlines that the offer of a complaint does not imply fault, nor can it serve as a tool for the parliamentarian (Prosecutor service) to guide the country”. However, the Supreme Court will analyze whether or not to accept the accusation.

Today I made one of the most difficult decisions of my public trajectory. I asked President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva my dismissal from the position of Minister of Communications. I did not do it for lack of commitment, on the contrary. I go out to believe that at this moment, the most important thing is to protect the country’s project that we help build and continue to believe.

In the last two and four months, I have experienced the most demanding – and at the same time, more beautiful – mission of my public life: to help connect the Brazilians and combine Brazil. Working for a country where digital inclusion is not privileged, but right. Internet door where there was only isolation before. It creates opportunities in which there was only the absence of the state.

I had the unconditional support of President Lula. A leader to whom I deeply admire and that has always assured me of freedom and support to work with autonomy and courage. I have never had attachment to the office, but I have always had a passion for the possibility of transforming people’s lives, especially those who need it most.

The decision to leave now is also a gesture of respect for the Brazilian government and the people. I have to dedicate myself to my defense, with serenity and firmness, because I know that the truth will prevail. The accusations that struck me are unfounded and I fully trust the institutions of our country, especially to the Supreme Court, so that it becomes clear. Justice will come!

I will resume my mandate as a federal deputy for Maranhão, where I will continue to fight for Brazil. With the same commitment, the same energy and even more faith.

I leave the ministry with the head raised and the feeling of fulfillment. Brazil is at another level. We are bringing a broadband to 138,000 schools, we unlock the Fust – which was still for over two decades – for investments of over $ 3 billion in digital inclusion projects, we provide more than 56,000 computers in the needy communities, we are connecting the Amazon with 12,000 km of optics immersed in fiber and will push the TV 3.0 ready to revolutionize.

It is this legacy that I leave. And it is with him that I follow, standing, fighting for justice, democracy and the Brazilian people.

My thanks to all my team, the president Lula, once again, to my party UNIão Brasil and, in particular, to the people of Maranhão who chose me to be their representative in public life. I am very proud to be Maranhão and to have contributed to my state and my country.
