This enthusiasm arises from Tigre and Dragon, which came out in 2000. This feature film signed the adaptation of Ang Lee’s novel Wang Dulu, published in the 1940s. It features many celebrities such as Michel Ioo, Chow Yun-Lachm, Rust Zai or the legendary Cheng Pay.

Produced by the Prime video, this series was developed by Jason Ning (Lucifer) and Ronald D. Moore (Battlestar Galactica). This program is presented as a new adaptation of the novel, not as a remake of the feature film. The first official synopsis was recently revealed:
In the midst of great landscapes and spectacular action, the tiger and the dragon follows the middle link, and Mu Bai, with two cursed warriors divided between the forbidden love and the call of modernity – tired between maintaining their lifestyle and the possibility of a common future.
Very popular genre but long left unknown
The tiger and the dragon is a Wuxia panThe name of historical martial arts films. Very popular for the Chinese society, this genre only found in the Western society in the early 90’s, especially under the impulses of filmmaker Tsui Hark (The Blade), then through Zhang Yimou.
When reviewing the Cannes Film Festival (excluding competition), the tigers and dragon will publish unprecedented enthusiasm in its release. The film will bring more than $ 213 million to the cash registers (budget budget barely 17 million) and unites almost two million spectators in France in theaters.
This commercial success is accompanied by a critical triumph. Thus, Tiger and the Dragon were given four Oscars, including the best foreign film. The feature film was the subject of Suite in 2015, made by choreographer Yuen Wu Ping and made by Netflix. However, the results were not due to expectations, and this film was rapidly dissolved.
