Ponteff greeted faithful gathered in the Vatican at Easter

Pope Francis transformed a papamobile lap in the middle of the 35,000 faithful gathered in São Pedro Square, in the Vatican, for the blessing of Mass and Easter on Sunday (20).

This has been the first time since she was hospitalized with pneumonia on February 14, that the 88 -year -old pontiff climbed to a Papamovel to greet Catholic pilgrims.

Before the walk through the square, Francisco appeared in the central loggia of San Pedro Basilica to accompany the reading of the message “Urbi et orbi” (“A The City and the World”), prepared by Jorge Bergoglio himself and read by the master of the celebrations of the Pontifical Liturgical, Diego Ravelli.

With difficulties visible to speak and the fragile voice, the Pope wanted “Happy Easter” for the faithful and was applauded by the crowd.

Bergoglio has not been able to read the text because he still recovers from the bilateral pneumonia that held him almost 40 days in a hospital in Rome and left him on the verge of death.

The 88 -year -old pontiff was discharged on March 23 and since then he has been solitary most of his time at Casa Santa Marta, his official residence in the Vatican.

It should at least rest until the end of May, while leading daily physiotherapy sessions to completely resume respiratory and language capacity. .
