If fans rejoiced at the announcement of a Rocky spin-off about the Drago family, it did not concern Sylvester Stallone, who violently attacked the producer of the saga.
On July 29th, we learned that MGM Studios was planning to launch a Rocky spin-off centered around Ivan and Viktor Drago. The Italian Stallion’s memorable rival in Part 4 reappeared in Creed 2 with his son fighting Rocky’s money, Adonis (Michael B. Jordan).
Obviously, this news did not go down well with Sylvester Stallone, the hero of the saga, who was furious after this announcement. The latter violently recruited producer Irwin Winkler, the owner of the franchise rights.
“Another heartbreak. I just found this out. Once again, Irwin Winkler, that pathetic 94-year-old producer, and his stupid sons Charles and David, are gnawing at the brains of the body of a wonderful character I created, without it. I even tell myself about it.”– he said in an Instagram post.
“I want to apologize to the fans. I never wanted the rock heroes to be used by these parasites”He hammered.
I never wanted rock heroes to be used by these parasites.
Stallone then brought up Dolph Lundgren (Drago) and accused him of not telling him about the project beforehand. “Also, there was a time when I had nothing but respect for Dolph, but he never let me know what was going on behind my back with this character I created for him. True friends are worth more than gold.”he concluded.
But the legendary interpreter of rock did not stop there! He went above and beyond in his second Instagram post, sharing a shot of Irwin Winkler with vampire teeth sucking the blood of an Italian stallion.
After Irwin Winkler and his family drew Rocky’s blood!– he said referring to the published photos.
“Hollywood’s most hated, least talented, most jaded producer and his cowardly sons have found their next prey…Draco?”he continued.
“Since the dawn of time, so many artists from every industry, music, painting, literature, have been destroyed by these bloodthirsty men who have destroyed so many families, lining their pockets with the work of others. dolph why No phone. call!”he condemned.
Stallone would later delete that last sentence about his former rival in the ring. Dolph Lundgren also spoke about it on Instagram, trying to ease the tension.
“Just to clarify the Draco spin-off. No script approved, no contracts signed, no director.
Also, I was really impressed that my friend Sylvester Stallone was involved in this project, either as a producer or as an actor.– he noted and specified that he did not think that this would happen without his agreement.
“There was a press leak last week which is unfortunate. I am in contact with Mr. Balboa to put all the fans at ease.”he reassured her.
For years, Stallone tried to get back the rights to The Rock, which he wanted to pass on to his children. The comedian entered into a violent conflict with Irwin Winkler, who owned the rights to the saga, following a deal with the actor in the 1970s.
While you wait for this battle to be resolved, Creed 3, the next film in the saga, will hit theaters in the first quarter of 2023 … without Sylvester Stallone.
