The unusual scenario attracts tourists to Atacama, such as the Spaniard Leonel Quintana. “We noticed that, in certain places, with water, some species begin to sprout of impressive colors: yellow, white, fuchsia … it is really a gift of nature to be here.”
When the “flowery desert” is in its splendor, more than 200 species of plants bloom.
The Spanish Lilian Herrera also classified the phenomenon as “magnificent”. “It is incredible what happens with a little water in this land that seemed sterile. The seeds are there, waiting, of a small drop of water. It is magnificent.” /With AFP
