New Slasher franchise sequence debuts in theaters on July 18, 2025
THE Sony Pictures released the first trailer for I know what you did last summerdirect sequence of films released in 1997 and 1998. The feature marks the return of the original protagonists Jennifer Love Hewitt (Julie James) and Freddie Prinze Jr. (Ray Bronson) and debut in theaters on July 18, 2025.
Under the direction of Jennifer Kaytin Robinson (Justicers) and co-script signed by Sam Lanskythe new production ignores the events of the third movie and the TV series, resuming the narrative line of the second feature. The story accompanies Julie and Ray, now adults, advising a new group of young people who are beginning to be pursued by a mysterious killer, similar to past events.
The film has an original script of Robinson and Leah McKendrickinspired by the characters created by Lois Duncan.
In the original movie, released in 1997, four friends accidentally run over a man and throw his body into the sea, believing he had gotten rid of the problem. A year later, they receive an anonymous letter with the message: “I know what you did last summer.” From there, the group is persecuted by a killer with a hook, leading to a series of dark deaths and revelations. The cast also had SARAH MICHELLE GELLARand Ryan Phillippe.

In addition to Hewitt and Prinze Jr., the film has a new cast that includes MADELYN CLINE, Chase Sui Wonders, Lola tung, Nicholas Alexander Chavez, Austin Nichols, SARAH PIDGEON, Tyriq Withers, JONAH HAUER-KING, Billy Campbell and Gabbriette.
