The Swedish brand H&M announced on Tuesday 22, who will open another shop in Brazil, in Shopping MorumbiWest zone of the city of San Paolo. In a statement, Joaquim Pereira, head of the sales of H&M Brasil, said that all units will be open this year, without specifying the dates. “We are extremely enthusiastic to expand the presence of H&M in Sao Paulo with our new shop at Morumbi Shopping. This moment marks an important step to bring our high quality and sustainable fashionists to even more Brazilian consumers, all at the best price,” says the executive.
Expired since last year, the confirmation of the arrival of H&M in Brazil took place only on March 27 of this year, the date of publication of the report on the sustainability of the brand.
Closing of the shops
The opening strategy of the shops in Brazil is part of an H&M expansion plan for other markets. In the report on the results of the first quarter of 2025 (which represents the period from 1 December 2024 to 28 February of this year), the Swedish company indicates that its net sales have increased by 3%. The document also indicates that 120 stores were closed in the period and, in the balance of the liquid (openings and closures), 40 have ceased to operate.
“With four inaugurations scheduled in 2025, we are confident that the unique proposal of H&M will resonate strictly in the Brazilian market. Obviously our commitment: growing in a way that connects both physical customers and those digitally while we continue to offer a stimulating and convenient purchasing experience”, says Joaquim Pereira in a declaration issued by the company.
Performance in Latin America
The first H&M store in Latin America was opened in 2012 in Mexico. Then came Panama (2021), Costa Rica (2022) and Dominican Republic (2024).
Chile was the first address in South America to receive a brands in 2013 and today it has 30 physical addresses and also online presence. Other countries of the region where the brand is present is Peru, with Open Store in 2015 and Uruguay, with operations since 2018.
The H&M report announces that the brand will also open, still in 2025, its first shop in El Salvador. The nearby Brazil, Paraguay, will host a brands in 2026.
