A great explosion probably caused by the combustion of chemical materials killed at least eight people and wounded more than 700 this Saturday in Bandar Abbas, the largest port of Iran, reported that the media of the Iranian state.
The explosion, which hit the section of Porto Shahid Rajae, occurred when Iran started a third round of nuclear negotiations with the United States in Oman, but there was no indication of a connection between the two events.
Hossein Zafari, spokesman for the Iranian crisis management organization, seemed to blame the inadequate conservation of chemicals in the containers to Shahid Rajae for the explosion.
“The cause of the explosion was chemicals within the containers,” said the Iranian press agency Iraniana.
“Previously, the general manager of crisis management had made this port during his visits and underlined the possibility of danger,” said Zafari.
However, a spokesman for the Iranian government said that although chemicals probably caused the explosion, it was not yet possible to determine the exact reason.
The Iranian president, Masoud Pezeshkian, ordered an investigation from the accident and sent his interior minister on the scene, who said that the efforts still continue to turn off the fire and prevent him from spreading in other areas.
Located near the Strategic Strategic of Ormuz, the port of Shahid Rajae is the largest Iranian container center, moving most of the country’s containers, according to state media.
