Netflix’s advantage in the streaming market in Brazil is being reduced, according to a report recently published by Justwatch. Despite keeping the Lead, the platform has lost space for first videos, Disney+ and Paramount+.
The data refer to the first quarter of 2025 and consider the activity of four million users. The research does not consider subscribers and opinions, but the use of catalogs, such as research, filters and additions to the watches.
Netflix maintains the market share of 23%, maintaining the position it has won for years. However, he lost 2% of the public in the analyzed period, the worst rate of the services considered in research.
Just behind it is the main video, with 21%, to support a difference of only two percentage points with the leader, between January and March this year. At the end of last year, the distance between the first two was five percentage points.
What can the result explain?
Some strategies are mentioned by the survey to try to explain the new streaming scenario in the country. The main is the purchase of sports rights, which acts as a “bait” for new subscribers.
The main video, for example, transmits the Serie A games of the Brazilian championship and the Brazilian Cup, as well as providing purchases from purchases from Amazon’s online store. The service has one of the lowest prices on the market, of $ 19.90/month, although you charge more for the version without ads.
Netflix has adapted the value of the May signature of last year: the standard mode with ads (the cheapest) is $ 20.90. There are also options without advertising, for $ 44.90/month and premium, at $ 59.90/month (four simultaneous screens).

And the rest of the market?
Complete the Disney+podium, with a market share of 15%. Afterwards, Max arrives, with 12%, globe, with 11%, Apple TV+, 6%, paramount+, 4%, mubes, 3%and another, 5%.
A great surprise was the performance of Paramount+, which doubled its slice in one year, jumping from 2% to 4%. The rights to transmit competitions such as Conmebol Libertadores and South America may have contributed to the result.
In the general scenario, Netflix, first videos, Disney+, Max and Globoplay are concentrated even more than 80% of all the interests for streaming in Brazil, according to Justwatch.
The post Netflix could lose the leadership in Brazil for another streaming, says the research appeared for the first time in digital look.
