The somewhat improvised airing of the first episode of “Turma da Mônica: A Série”, in the new session called “Espiadinha Globoplay”, helped to increase Globo’s audience on Friday afternoon (29/7).

Although decided without much notice (it was not foreseen in the first publication of the schedule), the “special edition” at 15:30, immediately after the rerun of “O Cravo ea Rosa” (2000), yielded 15 ratings and 32 % share (participation in the total number of televisions connected) in Sao Paulo, which represents an increase of 5 points in the two cases analyzed.

Among the viewers of Rio de Janeiro, Ibope grew by 4 points, with 8 points of participation more than the other days: 16 points of audience and 37% of share.

It was the best performance of the hour in August.

The only novelty in programming, the solitary episode of the series may have helped the audience of the entire afternoon on the net. The afternoon slot (from 12:00 to 18:00) recorded a record audience on Friday among São Paulo residents: an average of 15 points, a participation of 32%.

Jornal Hoje reached a record audience in São Paulo, with 15 points and a share of 32%, representing an audience 36% higher than the partial average for the year. The rerun of “O Cravo ea Rosa” was also a record in Sao Paulo, with 18 points, and equaled the attendance record with 39%.

To top it off, “Sessão da Tarde” had its largest audience on Friday in Sao Paulo, with 14 points and a 31% participation.

The inclusion of the first episode of “Turma da Mônica: A Série” on open TV had a double function. The most obvious thing was to attract subscribers to Globoplay, where fans can find other chapters of the series. But it also served as a test for the public’s receptivity to the full display of the attraction in its program.

The series from Turma da Mônica premiered in streaming on July 21 and features the same cast as the last two recent films, directed by Daniel Rezende, who is also responsible for producing the episodes.

The attraction has been praised by audiences and critics alike, and there is already a campaign for its renewal on social networks, although the executive producer of the audiovisual core MSP (Mauricio de Sousa Produções), Marcos Saraiva, said he had marked the farewell of the current character interpreters.

Outraged by this information, fans have launched a petition asking for more adventures with this cast: Giulia Benite (Mônica), Kevin Vechiatto (Cebolinha), Laura Rauseo (Magali) and Gabriel Moreira (Cascão), as well as Emilly Nayara, interpreter of Milena , which was introduced in “Turma da Mônica: Lições” and is considered the fifth member of the Turma.
