Sinners mark another collaboration between Ryan Coogler and Michael B. Jordan, and stands out for the creative use of film resources
In Sinnersnew feature of Ryan Coogler, Michael B. Jordan Interprets two characters: The Twin Brothers Smoke and Stack. Although current technology allows sophisticated digital solutions for this type of scene, the team opted for a more traditional approach.
The Director of Photography Autumn Durald Arkapaw and Coogler They avoided the utmost use of digital face replacement and preferred to film interactions between twins with classic methods. The scenes have been repeated several times by Jordanwhich had to record each part with millimeter accuracy, especially in external locations, where natural light imposed time restrictions.
In an interview with Rotten Tomatoesthe actor explained that the process was demanding not only for him, but also for his castmates. “Sometimes I was talking to a stuntman, sometimes to anyone “told Jordanwhich also highlighted the use of technologies such as Halo cameras, facial recognition and a multi -member system, which left little margin for error. “We had to adjust to not interrupt another actor’s speech or invade the twin space”he explained.
Despite the technical challenges and the time pressure, the team managed to achieve a remarkable fluidity in the scenes where Smoke and Stack opposite. Jordan recognizes the collective effort behind the result. “After we took the pace, it got easier. It was worth every effort”he said.
