The Vice -President of the ECB shows optimism on several cuts of interest in an interview with the newspaper

There are reasons for the optimism on the continuity of the current phase of interest by the European Central Bank (ECB), said the vice -president of the institution of Luis De Guindos, in an interview that will be published in the Saturday edition of the Austrian newspaper Die Presse.

The ECB has reduced interest rates for the seventh time of last month and warned that economic growth will be severely affected by the US rates, strengthening even more flexible bets in the coming months.

“It depends on how inflation evolves. But we can be optimistic here,” he said from Guindos, when he was asked for how long he would continue the phase of cutting interest rates.

“According to our latest predictions, inflation will be very close to our 2% goal from the end of the year,” he added, in the interview published online on Friday.
