The new satirical action comedy High speed train It certainly took a long time to get here. Based on the novel by Kōtarō Isaka, which was released in Japan as beetle mariadirector David Leitch’s film went into production in October 2020. This means there has been a lot of hype for this blockbuster, with High speed train with a superior cast which includes Brad Pitt, Zazie Beetz, Brian Tyree Henry, Sandra Bullock, Lady Gaga and others. With the release finally upon us, let’s take a look at what critics are saying about the film.
when CinemaCon audiences had a broader idea High speed train they were fascinated by the action sequences and, as we saw in the exchange between Brian Tyree-Henry and Brad Pitt in the trailer – this movie promises to make you laugh too. Let’s move on to the reviews, starting with Gossipify’s review of High speed train . Eric Eisenberg gives the film 3.5 out of 5 stars, saying Brad Pitt shows palpable joy in his role as Ladybug’s killer. The story gets a little chaotic, the review says, but it fits together like a fun puzzle:
Bullet Train doesn’t aim to revolutionize blockbuster movies, but instead plays with an ironic vibe that allows you to recognize tropes and appreciate how the film plays with them. It’s a sneaky and goofy action movie that’s both understated and wild, and a satisfying late summer release.
Pierre Debrug from Variety says the film is pretty funny, if not particularly insightful, as it strives to capture Quentin Tarantino’s vibes. Aaron Taylor-Johnson and Brian Tyree Henry are fun as Tangerine and Lemon respectively, and the fight scenes can be seen in the choreography:
The fight scenes look relatively original, which in itself is impressive considering how many other creative directors are trying to make their mark on the genre. Leitch tends to approach these confrontations in the way Gene Kelly and Fred Astaire did their dance numbers: the violence isn’t meant to be taken literally (which is sometimes difficult, given the brutality of the outpouring). but rather appreciated above all for its choreography. and the ability to surprise.
by Paul Bradshaw NME He gives it an average of 3 out of 5 stars, saying Brad Pitt leads this action movie as the other killers on board struggle to keep up. It’s a fun ride, but not as fun as you think, this reviewer says:
As the twists continue (and more famous faces appear), Bullet Train begins to falter. Head-on colliding with a failed CGI ending and once again turning back on all the obvious revelations, the film goes off the rails long before it stops moving. On the other hand, it’s nearly impossible not to enjoy every moment Pitt is on screen. By stealing the film with what we gave him (a bottle of water, a bucket hat, automatic toilets…), we see that he is enjoying himself. It is fortunate for us that at least part of it is fading.
In reviews of a film on a train mentions of the film coming off the rails are expected. However, Term Pete Hammond argues High speed train He was never on the right track at first, saying the movie is so wild that it’s basically a live animation:
None of the characters, including Pitt’s, look remotely like real humans, but they try like an old college student. However, movies tend to work best when the characters have some semblance of a believable relationship with real, living people. That doesn’t seem to care a bit, but he laughs. Aside from the star whose natural charisma keeps him going, as well as his too often underused acting skills, Henry is the most visible, even though his Lemon must profess allegiance to the children’s book Thomas The Tank Engine as a life guide. .
David Ehrlich from IndieWire rates the film with a C, agreeing with other reviewers that while the film itself isn’t great, Brad Pitt’s glee is radiant enough to convince viewers that they’re enjoying themselves too. From Review:
Bullet Train may not go anywhere fast, but Pitt always seems to be there already, knowing that we will see him smile happily in all the chaos that unfolds around him (including two standout cameos, the one that increases a lead actor’s power, and another who completely ignores it). Pitt’s stardom has never been more evident, and here it shines enough that everything else is lost in the glow.
If this film seems like an experience not to be missed this summer, you can see it in theaters starting Friday 5th August. In the meantime, take a look what else do we know High speed train as good as any other Brad Pitt’s next projects .
