Margot Robbie will be one of the best books of all time … but “there will be fans who won’t be happy”!

Emily Bronte’s legendary novel, Hauts de HurleventPublished in 1847, many cinematic adaptations have already been underway. In English literature it is considered one of the largest novels, the story presents two families of small nobility living in the land of Western Yorkshire, Ernshav and Linton. The story is more specifically about their terrible relationships with Ernshava’s son, Hitcliffe, who approaches their daughter, Catherine. The couple maintains a toxic relationship throughout the work, which is punctured by the moments of cruelty and domestic violence.

The new film is currently filmed by Saltburn’s director and promising young woman, Emerald Fanel, in which Australian actors Margot Robbie and Jacob Eldard perform Catherine and Hitcliffe. The first pictures of the actors from the shooting have just been announced.

Controversial casting and freedom?

This actor has caused some confrontation, which is not unusual, given that many adaptations of the work have caused similar reactions. The film’s casting director Khalmel Kokran spoke about this criticism during a reading and answer session at the Scottish Sands Film Festival (deadline).

“” “The comment on Instagram says the casting director should be shot, but wait for the movie, and then you can decide whether you want to shoot me.»

He also suggested that the film was not going to devote itself to the original work, which not everyone might like: “But it is not necessary to be accurate. It’s just a book. It is not based on real life. It’s an art. Wait before you see the kit because it is even more shocking and may be a dog’s necklace or not. Of course, there will be fans of English literature who will not be happy.»

The nature of criticism is not very clear. According to this, Robbie is much older than Catherine’s character in books that is only 18 years old. Hitcliffe is described as “dark skin gypsies”, but here he explains Elord, a white Australian whose father emigrated to Australia from the Basque country.

As Dark Horizons reminds us, in 2011 only by adapting to Andrea Arnold that black actress James Hanson explained the role of Hitcliffe in British adaptation. Previously, these are mostly white actors, such as Tom Hardy, Timothy Dalton, Ralph Finese, Ian McSshan, Richard Burton, Charlton Heston, and Lauren Olivier, who played this role.

Owen Cooper, a series of adolescence, will also be a new version of Hitcliffe in the new film.

Emerald Fennell’s Hurlévents Hauts will be released on our screens on February 18, 2026.

Meanwhile, (re -) discover the version of the version D ‘Andrea Arnold Down. The film is Available in VOD.
