Because Netanyahu’s plan for Gaza threatens to share Israel, kill the Palestinians and infuriate the world

The offensive to take and maintain the territories will hint everything that makes this war such controversial.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu told the Israeli population that “we are on the eve of an intense incursion to Gaza”. According to him, Israel would take and send the territory: “They [as tropas] They will not enter and outside. “

The new offensive has been provided, according to the spokesperson for the defense forces of Israel (IDF), Effie Defie, to report the remaining hostages.

Subsequently, “the collapse of the Hamas regime, its defeat, its submission, arrives,” he told an Israeli radio.

According to Israel, the offensive will not start before the journey of the President of the United States Donald Trump, Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates and Qatar next week.

Assuming that Trump is not dissuaded Israel to go on, the country will need a military and political miracle to obtain the results described by Defin.

The offensive is more likely to turn on everything that makes the war in Gaza so controversial. The war, which began with Hamas’ attacks on October 7, 2023, led the conflict between Palestinians and Israelis to a dangerous point.

The extension of the war divides the Israelis, kills even more civilian Palestinian and horrified millions of people all over the world, including many who describe themselves as friends of Israel.

While the IDF attacks Hamas in Gaza, the government plan is that their soldiers force some or all more than two million Palestinian civilians to Gaza to take refuge in a small area in the southern ruins.

Humanitarian aid would be distributed, perhaps by service providers, including US private security companies.

The United Nations (UN) humanitarian agencies declared that they do not collaborate, condemning the plan as a violation of the principles of humanitarian aid.

They also warned of Gaza’s hunger caused by Israel’s decision more than two months ago to block the entry of humanitarian aid.

The Israeli block, which continues, has been widely condemned, not only by the United Nations and the Arab countries.

“Pressure” or war crime?

Now the United Kingdom and the European Union claim to be against a new Israeli offensive.

Two weeks ago, the foreign ministers of the United Kingdom, France and Germany, all the allies of Israel who consider Hamas a terrorist group, have warned that the “intolerable” block puts Palestinian civilians, including a million children, in “strong risk of hunger, epidemic diseases and death”.

The ministers also implicitly warned that their ally was violating international law.

“Humanitarian aid should never be used as a political tool and the Palestinian territory should not be reduced or subjected to any demographic change,” they said.

“Israel is obliged, according to international law, to allow the free passage of humanitarian aid”.

Israel denies violating international humanitarian law and the laws of war in Gaza. But at the same time, the words of their own ministers suggest the opposite.

Defense Minister Israel Katz described the blockage as the “main pressure lever” against Hamas. It seems an admission that the block is a weapon, although hunger, which is equivalent to a war crime.

Countries and organizations that believe that Israel systematically violates their legal obligations, committing a series of war crimes, will monitor any new offensive in search of further tests.

The extreme language used by the ministers must have been observed by the South African lawyers who defend the trial at the International Court of Justice (CIJ), supporting the Israeli genocide in Gaza.

Much of this language comes from ultra -annualists who support the Netanyahu government. They see the new offensive as another step to expel Gaza’s Palestinians and replace them with Jewish settlers.

One of the most eloquent extremists, Bezalel Smotrich, the Minister of Finance, said Gaza would be “completely destroyed” in six months.

The Palestinians in the area would be “desperate, understanding that there is no hope and nothing to wait for Gaza and would seek the transfer to start a new life elsewhere”.

“Relocations”, the word used by Smotrich will be seen both by his supporters and his political enemies as reference to the “transfer”, an idea discussed by the beginning of Zionism to force the Arabs to leave the lands between the Jordan River and the Mediterranean Sea.

The Israeli bombings killed more than 2,500 Palestinians in Gaza from March 18th, say the health officials

The Israeli critics of Netanyahu claim to extend the war with a new offensive, instead of ending it with a ceased the fire, has to do with their political survival and not with the security of Israel or the return of the hostages.

In the days following the attacks of 7 October, there were cars of car races outside the military bases, while the Israelis ran to volunteer to fight Hamas as reservists.

Now thousands of them (some estimates from the Israeli left are higher) are refusing the role of reservists.

They argue that the prime minister is continuing the war because if he does not do, the far right overturns the government and the day of the reckoning will come from the failures and the calculation errors that Netanyahu has made and that he gave Hamas the opportunity to attack.

Inside Israel, the most straightforward criticism of the planned offensive came from hostage families, who fear that they are abandoned by the government who claims to save their loved ones.

Hamas still maintains 24 hostages in the Gaza strip, according to Israel, and bodies of 35 of the 251 kidnapped on October 7th.

Netanyahu’s government has repeatedly stated that only the largest possible military pressure will be able to bring the survivors home and bring the bodies of the dead to their families.

In fact, the largest hostage release occurred during the ceasefire. The last agreement of ceased the fire, which Trump insisted on the fact that Israel has signed in the last days of Joe Biden’s government, has included a second planned phase that should lead to the release of all the hostages and to the total removal of Israel De Gaza.

The extremist allies of Netanyahu said they would overturn their government if it had agreed with a second phase of ceased the fire.

Firstly, Israel blocked humanitarian aid to press Hamas to agree with a renegotiated agreement that would have given Israel the opportunity to return to the war even after the release of the hostages.

When Hamas refused, Israel left again for the offensive with a large air attack on the night of March 18.

Since then, Israel has exerted relentless pressure on the Palestinians in Gaza.

A new offensive will kill many more civilians from Palestinian, will aggravate the misery of survivors and mourning to Gaza and expand the toxic divisions within Israel. In itself, without an agreement of ceased the fire, it is unlikely that, as in the past, it forces Hamas to release the remaining hostages.

The carnage imposed by Israel within Gaza was a Hamas recruiter and other armed groups, according to the then president of the government of Joe Biden.

It is worth repeating the words used by the Secretary of State Biden Antony Blinken in a Washington speech on January 14th.

“We evaluated that Hamas recruited almost many new militants who have lost,” said Blinken. “This is the recipe for a lasting insurrection and a perpetual war.”

When he said, Israel said he killed about 18,000 Palestinian fighters inside Gaza. Since then, more people have been killed and much more civil.

The large -scale attack of Israel broke the Hamas dorsal column as a structured military organization over a year ago.

Now Israel faces an insurrection, which history shows that it can last as long as the recruits are ready to fight and die to defeat the enemy.
