The number 267 Pontiff in the history of the Church was elected on Thursday.
The official Vatican account published on Thursday 8, the election of Cardinal Robert Francis Prevost as a new Pope.
In the post, the church explains that he chose the name Leo XIV to accompany him in the 267th papacy of the history of the Catholic Church.

Prevost is the first American Pope, he is 69 years old and is part of the Order of Franciscans, as well as being a friend of Francisco.
On January 30, 2023, at the time Pope Francisco appointed him mayor of the Dicker for the bishops and the president of the Pontifical Commission for Latin America. It became a cardinal in September of the same year.
