Paramount + will transform the classic “Everybody Hates Chris” series into an animated attraction. The project, in collaboration with the paid channel Comedy Central, was made official on Tuesday (2/8), 15 months after the first broadcast of the news.
In March of last year, when the idea came to light, the goal was to develop the series to be proposed to the market. But the ViacomCBS conglomerate has changed plans and now the production will be released on its own streaming platform.
According to the official release, Chris Rock will return to tell the stories of his adolescence in Brooklyn, in the 80s in New York, in addition to covering the role of executive producer.
“Chris Rock is one of the most talented comedians of all time and we are thrilled to be working with him, 3 Arts and CBS Studios to bring this project to life and welcome our new adult animation hit,” said Chris McCarthy. , president of Paramount Media Networks and MTV Entertainment Studios, in the production announcement.
Aired from 2005 to 2009 on American TV, the series was a phenomenon with audiences all over the world, especially in Brazil, where it got tired of reruns on television. Thanks to this, Chris’s young interpreter, Tyler James Williams, was traumatized by Brazilian fans, so much so that he filled his social networks with messages in Portuguese, which he simply could not understand.
There is no information on the participation of the original cast in the new production, to do the voices of the characters, but in July of last year Terry Crews and Tichina Arnold, who played Chris’s parents, appeared together in videos posted on social networks. , claiming they were “behind”.
“Guess who’s back? Your mom and dad! Me and the awesome Tichina Arnold! We have a surprise for you!” Said Terry Crews. He also wrote next to the video, on his Instagram, the name of the series and the word “Classic” as a hashtag.
