What Israel is looking for with his “Gaza Conquest” plan

The “Carriage of Gideon” operation provides for the compulsory employment and the transfer of the population of the Palestinian territory. Critics point out that some points on the plan can be classified as war crime. Israel’s security office unanimously approved on Monday (05/05), a plan to expand the military offensive in the Gaza Strip. Nicknamed “Carriage of Gideon”, would include the “Conquest di Gaza” and its employment. The mobilization of tens of thousands of reservists for the operation was also approved.

Judging by the details disclosed, the Israeli defense forces (Idi) will invade and take control of Gaza, will transfer the population compulsorily south of the territory, “dismantle” the Palestinian terrorist group Hamas, to free the hostages remaining from the attack of 7 October 2023 and – after the start of the operation – establishes a new humanitarian mechanism.

The plans are not expected to be entirely implemented before the President of the United States Donald Trump visited the United Arab Emirates, Qatar and Saudi Arabia in mid -May. Until then, he will continue his efforts for a ceasefire and a hostage agreement, said an unidentified Israeli security official.

According to the most recent reports, of the 251 hostages of 7 October, 59 are still in Gaza, but only 24 still alive. From a Palestinian point of view, the Ministry of Health has more than 52,000 victims of the massive Israeli military campaign, mostly civilians. Although the institution obeys Hamas control, most international agencies consider its reliable estimates.

War crimes and against humanity?

The military spokesman for the Fdi Ephraim Defin has confirmed that a central component of the operation is the mandatory transfer “of most of the Gaza Strip”. It is not clear what will happen if the Palestinians cannot or do not want to leave.

According to international law, forced civil dislocation during an armed conflict is a war crime. If systematically practiced, the act can also be considered a crime against humanity.

Following the announcement of the office decision, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu – which is sought by the International Criminal Court (ICC) for war crimes and humanity – published on the X platform that the population of Gaza “will be transferred to its protection”.

Also on Monday, a high security official has revealed to the press that the new offensive operational objectives would include a “voluntary transfer program” for southern citizens. Apparently it is a reference to the controversial proposal of Trump by the United States to take on the “property” of the territory and send the population of Gaza to third countries. The United Nations representatives qualify the suggestion as “ethnic cleaning”.

In the first months of the war between Israel and Hamas, about 90% of the 2.3 million inhabitants of Gaza were dislocated due to “military evacuation orders”, moving in shadows and improvised houses in the center and south of Gaza. After the entry into force of the ceased the fire of January 19, 2025, hundreds of thousands of them returned north of the track, just to find their demolished or seriously damaged houses.

“Stop being afraid of the word” occupation “”

According to an Israeli Senior employee, unlike the last few months, the national military do not plan to retire to land operations, but “will be in any area conquered”. A video message from Netanyahu confirms this intention.

There are reports that the caught areas would therefore be integrated into a buffer or safety area, extended inside Gaza. Others indicate that the entire territory of about 365 square kilometers will be occupied.

Since, in March, Israel has broken a two -month temporary fire with Hamas, taking up the offensive, the IDF has expanded their “safety areas” and shot the map of the region. In addition to the Netzarim corridor, which separates the Northern Gaza do Sul, the newly created Morag corridor is between Khan Youis and Rafah. Both now divide the track into three parts.

According to the United Nations estimates, since Israel has resumed the offensive, about 70% of the territory or part of a “red zone”, in which coordination with the military is required or are under “evacuation orders” – equivalent to the dislocation – of the armed forces. Therefore, hundreds of thousands of Palestinians are forced to an increasingly narrow space, while the bombings and air attacks continue.

Finance Minister Bezalel Smotrich, from the far right, said that the Israeli public should “stop being afraid of the word” occupation “.” The journalists of TV Channel 12, commented: “We finally occupy the Gaza Strip”.

Inadmissible pressure tactics

As for the new mechanism for the distribution of humanitarian assistance approved by the toilet, the details are free. Since March, Tel Aviv has not made it possible to insert any type of help, food, medical supplies or commercial goods in Gaza.

Much of the population does not find enough to eat, nor the food prices, which they shot. Humanitarian agencies report that most of their inventories are exhausted and the humanitarian system, on the verge of collapse, and accuse Israel of using famine as a weapon of war. The United Nations authorities warn that exploiting hunger is a war crime.

Israel denies this intention, claiming that the aim of reviewing the distribution of aid to Gaza would be to prevent Hamas from dodging resources to its employees. Therefore, the humanitarian block will be maintained until the beginning of the military offensive and “a complete evacuation of the south population”. In addition, the IDE islands would be “a sterile area around Rafah”, and all those who enter would be “filtered to avoid the presence of the members of Hamas”.

In February, humanitarian organizations called the alarms regarding the new guidelines proposed by the coordination body of government activities in the territories (Cogat), subject to the Ministry of Defense.

The proposed “review” includes the limitation of access points to a border passage in the South, near Egypt; transfer the help to the “poles” managed by particular security companies and supervised by the Israeli military; and the need for NGOs to be approved by Cogat before being able to operate in the area.

The leaders of all the United Nations agencies acting in Gaza have classified Cogat’s conditions as “unacceptable”. In a joint declaration, issued on May 3, they claimed that these plans “contradict the fundamental humanitarian principles and seem to strengthen control over vital elements such as pressure tactics”.
