In the weeks leading up to the event (September 2 on Amazon Prime Video), the Lord of the Rings series is (already) controversial. Many fans of JRR Tolkien’s novels have indeed expressed their displeasure after the release of promotional photos on social media, showing the elf Galadriel dressed in armor belonging to the line of Fëanor.
Appearing in The Silmarillion (a reference work that explores the entire mythology of Middle-earth over several millennia), Fëanor is an Elven prince of the Tatyar clan and, among others, the grandfather of Celebrimbor, the smith of the Rings of Power.
But the Fëanor line is also known to fans of Tolkien’s world to maintain a deep rivalry with the Lady of Lorien, portrayed in the series by Swedish actor Morfid Clarke. For Lindsey Weber, the producer of the program, this controversy has no basis, especially since wearing this armor during one of the episodes of the series will be justified.
“To give some context, even if it’s not something that the internet users in general consider: it’s not really his armor, it was given to him by someone.” Who did Galadriel get this armor from? Of course, it won’t be just any elf, but someone close enough to wear Nenya’s ring of power. And why not Celebrimbor himself, who is portrayed by the British comedian Charles Edwards in the series?
Therefore, the answers are expected from September 2, when the first three episodes of the series The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power will air exclusively on the Amazon Prime Video platform.
