Vatican citizen, Emanuela disappeared in 1983 at the age of 15
Pietro Orlandi, brother of Emanuela Orlasi, a citizen of the Vatican who disappeared since 1983, has published a message on his social networks to congratulate his mother and asked for the new leader of the Catholic Church, Pope Leo XIV, to resolve a mystery of over 40 years. The Italian shared a photo on the occasion of the “Mother’s Day”, where he walks, with his back, with his mother in the area of the colonnade of San Pedro Square, in the Vatican, where it was 42 years ago, waiting for the appeals of [Karol] Wojtyla (Pope John Paul II), and now, Thursday (8), that of the new Pope and a new hope. ”
“My best votes for all mothers and my in particular,” he underlined.
Finally, Pietro remembered Robert Francis Prevost’s words during his first appearance as a pontiff and made a new appeal to justice: “Peace is with all of you, these are the first words of Leo XIV, since my mother will not be peace until there is no truth and I hope it can help her find this peace”, he concluded.
Remember the case: Emanuela Orlasi is the daughter of an employee of Sacred location, a Vatican citizen and lived inside the walls of the smallest country in the world, but disappeared while returning home for over 40 years.
Several hypotheses have been considered in recent decades, by the crime common to the avenged against his father or against the Vatican.
The film “The Truth is in Heaven” (2016), by Roberto Faenza, believed that Orlandi was kidnapped by mafia and thrown into a concrete cement. None of the hypotheses, however, was confirmed by the Court.
In 2019, the Vatican even opened an investigation to investigate whether the bones found in a property of the Catholic Church belonged to the disappearance, but the case ended the following year, since the remains were before the end of the nineteenth century.
Already in November 2022, the launch of the series “The Missing Girl of the Vatican”, of Netflix, rekindled attention to the case and posters with Orlandi’s face appeared again in the streets of Rome.
The case was once again investigated by the Vatican in January 2023 and November of the same years, the Senate of Italy approved a bill to create a mixed parliamentary committee of parliamentary investigation (CPAMI) on the disappearance of Orlasi and Mirella Gregori in 1983.
Last year, Pope Francis revealed that the Vatican still suffers from the disappearance of the teenager and that investigates “so that this story can be clarified and that the truth comes to light”. .
