The producer of ‘The Witcher’ promises to solve the problems of the fans in the next season

“I want to assure you that I hear you”

Spoilers for ‘The Witcher’ follow.

The showrunner from ‘The Witcher’, Lauren Schmidt Hissrich, has addressed one of the most debated plot points in the new season, ensuring that fans will get answers in due time. The new installment sees the return of Geralt of Rivia (henry cavill), monster hunter in the title role, as well as Princess Ciri (freya allan) and the sorceress Yennefer (Anya Chalotra).

After the series premiered on Netflix, the showrunner Lauren Schmidt Hissrich took to Twitter to address some of her most burning issues. In particular, many were upset that this second season differs significantly from the source material, the book series of Andrzej Sapkowski.

Contrary to the books, the second season of ‘The Witcher’ introduces the death of Eskel (Basil Eidenbenz), Geralt’s friend and character very loved by the fandom. Although his figure was charming in the first season, in this new installment, Eskel seems to be different, and the fans did not fail to notice. In response to early reactions, Hissrich said she can’t “stay away” from fan opinions. and that he will hold a Q&A session after parties to answer questions in detail.

“It’s December 21st. The series came out 4 days ago and of course, after spending two and a half years of my life with it, I’m curious to know what the fans are saying (not just critics). That is falling short. I can’t stay on the sidelines,” she tweeted.

Lauren Schmidt Hissrich also hinted that the fan base will know more about Eskel’s death and the relationship between Geralt, Yennefer and Ciri, but for that they will have to wait another season.

“I want to assure you that I hear you, that you are not screaming into the void. But I don’t have time, or shouldn’t take SO much time, to get into a long debate about why Eskel died, or when G/Y/C will join (psst S3)”.

Regarding the second season, Henry Cavill himself explained to us in an exclusive interview what he thought about season 2: “We have followed the guidelines that worked then to create a spectacular second season. We continue to be very much guided by Lauren Schmidt’s vision of the story, it depends on her how much the series sticks to the books in the future. So it’s not up to me to decide but, as long as Geralt stays true to the character, I will do everything possible to ensure that I continue to do my job to the best of my ability.”

To complement Netflix’s deliveries to the witcher universe, Lauren Schmidt Hissrich are also preparing another live-action miniseries called ‘Blood Origin’. In six chapters, it will tell the story of the creation of the first sorcerer, that first human mutant created to fight against monsters.. Schmidt Hissrich herself is already working on another animated spin-off, the second since ‘The Wolf’s Nightmare’.

Seasons 1 and 2 of ‘The Witcher’ can be seen worldwide on Netflix.
