Every day, AlloCiné recommends watching a movie (again) on TV. Tonight: Gérard Junot, father of capricious Camille Lou.
In 2021, Nicolas Couch is working on a remake of Gaz Alazrac’s Mexican film Nosotros los Nobles, released in 2013 (itself inspired by another Mexican film from 1949 called Le Grand Noceur). Through the story of a patriarch who convinces his three lazy, capricious and party-loving sons that he is spoiled and that they will have to work for a living, the director tackles themes dear to him, especially as a father. Namely: transmission, but also education.
In the role of the father, Gérard Junot thus answers Artus (with whom Nicolas Couchet has long wanted to work) as Philippe, the elder of the brothers completely incompetent in the business, in the skin of Camille Lou. which the director has already filmed in Les Bracelets rouges), who lends his qualities to Stella, a slightly distracted daddy’s girl, and finally to newcomer Luka Meliava, who portrays Alex, the youngest, presumably anarchist, in rejecting the system. And money, while he makes full use of it.
In France, Pourris gâtés will be released in cinemas on September 15, 2021. By the end of his career, he had invited more than 440,000 attendees. A modest score, but far from disgraceful given the current situation. A few months later, it was released on Netflix overseas under the title “spoiled bratsAnd for more than a week, it takes the first place in the ranking of the most watched non-English works. Overall, the film has collected 10 million views in its first weekend on the platform. It rises to the fifth place in the ranking. The best “first week”.
When asked by BFMTV, Gérard Junot expressed his surprise and joy at seeing his comedy popular with audiences around the world: “It’s pretty crazy to see in Honduras, Ecuador, Brazil, Mexico. (…)” He adds: “This international penetration is very new. I had it with Les Choristes (…) we knew the film was enjoyable and touched people, but until we got emails from Ecuador and Brazil from there… it means it’s a good film.”
