The next Women’s Football World Cup in 2027 will be based in Brazil, becoming the first edition to be held in South America. The United States must be appointed guests of the 2031 edition, which will be expanded from 32 to 48 teams.
Infantino also said that there is enormous potential for football to generate more entry outside Europe.
“If the rest of the world, in particular Saudi Arabia or the United States of America, would only do 20% of what Europe does in football, we (we could reach an amount of more than) half trillion (dollars) or more impact on GDP (with our sport)”, he added.
“By the way, Saudi Arabia is also doing an excellent job, creating a women’s league and a women’s national team. Women’s football is really the only collective sport for women who have such a great audience and also such a great impact.”
