Netflix: Sex Education and Elite Teaser for Reboot of Beloved ’90s Teen Series

Welcome to Hartley High…again! Netflix has released the first images of Hartley in Raw Hearts, a reboot of the 1990s Australian teen series of the same name. And this teaser fits the vibe of the platform’s teen series, like Sex Education or Elite, the opposite extreme of the original show.

The series, originally titled Heartbtreak High, was adapted from a film, itself adapted from a play, that depicted a love story between a student and teacher at the same high school.

From 1996 to 1999, Hartley focused wholeheartedly on telling the joys and sorrows of the students of Hartley Heights, then Hartley Heights, in an authentic and relevant tone, far removed from the sanitized world of American dramas.

Praised for its treatment of important and sometimes taboo subjects at the time, Hartley, Heart moved an entire generation, especially in France, where it was broadcast on France 2, MCM and Europe 2 TV. It dealt with sexuality, violence, drugs, racism, etc. and had a gallery of characters far from being privileged in the face of life’s troubles with whom one could easily identify.

Hartley’s new version, Hearts Alive by Hannah Carol Chapman, seems to want to offer an even more modern and inclusive voice to a new generation with stylized stagings like the current teen series. Will the bet be successful? The answer is from September 14 with the release of eight episodes on Netflix.

For the most nostalgic, you can find Hartley’s original series, Raw Heart on MyTF1.
