The document is the prefiguration of the lack of support for Ednaldo Rodrigues among most of the state federations
A group consisting of 19 of the 27 state federations of Brazilian football turned against Ednaldo Rodrigues after the decision of the court that removed it from the presidency of the CBF (Confederation of Brazilian football). On Thursday night (15), the presidents of these federations signed a manifesto defending the “renewal of Brazilian football”.
Even without mentioning in Ednaldo, they positioned themselves in favor of calling new elections. This action would therefore depend on Fernando Sarney, appointed intervening of the entity with the decision of the TJ-RJ.
In the document entitled “Manifesto for the stability, renewal and decentralization of Brazilian football”, the associations were available for the formation of a single application. The goal, therefore, is to guarantee “institutional stability” to CBF.
However, the manifesto did not signed the presidents of the Federations of Amapá, Bahia, EspĂrito Santo, Mato Grosso, Minas Gerais, Pernambuco, Sao Paulo and Tocantin.

“Brazilian football lives a decisive moment. It is urgent to face structural challenges that have limited the potential of our football for years. We need a balanced calendar, professional arbitration, quality meadows, safety in stadiums and strengthened competitions.
Because this happens, it is essential to guarantee institutional stability to the CBF. We must transform the current judgment and instability page that for over a decade compromises the correct functioning of the entity and the progress of Brazilian football. It is also a time to save the internal autonomy of the CBF, now suffocated by an excessively centralized and disconnected structure of the cases that make up the national football ecosystem.
In addition to stability, the scenario requires a renewal of ideas, practices and leaders, as well as the definitive professionalization of the management structures. CBF must be an example of governance, efficiency and transparency – and must also be the home of all those who build Brazilian football, with a healthy, stimulating and decentralized environment, in which everyone can actively contribute to the improvement of sport that constitutes the true national heritage.
United for this purpose, we are committed to building a presidential candidacy and the Vice Presidents of the CBF engaged in a new cycle for Brazilian football: more democratic, more integrated and more open to everyone’s participation. We want a strong CBF, dear inside, admired outside – and again loved by all those who make football the soul of our country. “
