A lawyer was reprimanded for the use of artificial intelligence (AI) during oral support at the Federal Regional Court of the 4th Region (TRF-4). Instead of personally presenting the arguments, he reproduced a recording with the robotic voice of AI, which was considered unresolved by the magistrates.
The episode took place at the end of April, during a session of the 2nd Trf-4 appeal panel, in court of an appeal relating to the granting of the social security performance. The case was revealed by the Migalhas legal portal.
Authorized to speak, the lawyer Roberto Vedana asked if he could employ the support, which was allowed. However, he surprised the judges by triggering an audio with a robotic voice that fully reads his argument.

Registration occupied the regulatory five minutes. In addition, the lawyer also requested further seconds to complete the reading. The attitude generated discomfort among the magistrates.
“Doctor, this is absolutely repetitive and useless. I will ask to cut your sound,” said federal judge Alexandre Moreira, interrupting the audio.
Following, the rapporteur of the case, the federal judge Vicente Ataíde Júnior, voted to keep the sentence on appeal, based only for the reasons for the original decision.
The trial faced the request for rural retirement presented by an insured. The judge recognized that he had worked in the countryside, but understood that he did not adapt to the rules of the family economy. According to him, the size of the property and the volume of sales showed that it was an agricultural activity with the characteristics of the company. Therefore, he voted against the request for benefit.
Accompanying the speaker, the federal judge Leonardo Castanho criticized the attitude of the lawyer. “I consider disrespectful towards the lawyer to make the magistrates feel a recording. If it must be done in this way, to join the record record. I did not come here to listen to the recording. This has no adaptation.”
