Walmart, a detail leader in the United States, is planning to cut around 1,500 jobs in the context of a renovation effort to simplify his operations, according to a memorandum seen by Reuters.
The company’s plan will affect the teams in its global technological operations, the e-commerce service in US stores and its advertising activity Walmart Connect.
“To accelerate our progress in providing the experiences that will define the future of retail, we must improve our attention,” says the Memorandum.
The company will also eliminate some functions and open new ones, according to the plan.
Walmart is the largest private employer in the United States, with about 1.6 million employees. In total there are about 2.1 million employees worldwide, according to its site.
The company is also the largest importer in the country, with about 60% of its imports, in particular articles such as clothing, electronics and toys from China.
The Wall Street Journal was the first to report Walmart’s dismissal plan.
