Britney Spears is officially a married woman, as the beloved pop star married Sam Asghari in June. Although Spears’ ex-husband tries to crash the wedding, the star-studded ceremony seemed to have gone pretty well. However, the pop star has now revealed that she originally had a different plan for her wedding. She apparently, she wanted to hold the ceremony in a Catholic church, but she was forbidden to do so. That said, Spears took to social media to call the place of worship.
The wedding eventually took place at Britney Spears and Sam Asghari’s home in Los Angeles. However, in a deleted Instagram post since then, Spears shared (via page 6 ) who hoped to organize wedding parties in a Catholic church. Although he didn’t reveal the location or the name of the place, he shared some energetic thoughts about her decision not to host his big day. Spears specifically suggested that she had been observing the site since the start of the COVID-19 pandemic:
This is where I originally wanted to get married during COVID 👰🏼♀️! I wanted to go there every Sunday. . . it is beautiful and they told me that it is temporarily closed due to COVID !!!! Then 2 years later, when I wanted to get married there, they told me I had to be Catholic and take the TEST! The church shouldn’t be open to everyone 🤔🤷🏼♀️⛪️ ????
Historically, the Catholic Church has been particularly attentive to who can celebrate their wedding in their places of worship. The Circus singer did not say whether she and the church reached a verbal agreement after first inquiring about the facility. But her comments here give the impression that she, at least, believed she would be allowed to use the place.
Despite her apparent disappointment, the ceremony at her home seemed like a joyful occasion. The event brought together several big names including Drew Barrymore, Paris Hilton, Selena Gomez (whom Britney Spears has shown a lot of love to recently) and Madonna. Since then, Hilton has been sharing information from BTS about the “fairytale” wedding. putting on the Cinderella vibe and shouting “the amazing women” that were there. Hilton, an old friend of Spears, He also expressed how happy he is for the Grammy winner in this new chapter of his life.
Newlyweds seem to be enjoying their new status as husband and wife right now. Shortly after the wedding, the singer indicated this in a publication, in which she wore a colorful bikini in her new home . She and Sam Asghari also went on their honeymoon on a yacht for two weeks. Which is certainly not a bad way to celebrate.
In short, Britney Spears certainly has a lot to be thankful for on her special day but, of course, she won’t be circling the bush if something doesn’t go as planned. Personally, I’m curious if the Catholic Church will now respond to her requests. We’ll have to wait for an update on that front, but in the meantime, Spears will likely continue to bask in her marital bliss.
