In the more traditional and technical circuit of Formula 1, Gabriel Bortoleto experienced a Sunday of overcoming. Sauber’s Brazilian concluded the Monaco Grand Prix in 14th place, reaching his best result so far in the season.
After starting the 16th, Bortoleto was involved in an accident on the first lap, trying a bold overtaking on Kimi Antonelli. The touch on the wall, at the entrance of the tunnel, caused the first yellow flag of the race. Even with damage, the debutant managed to return to the track and led a constant recovery race.
Although he has not yet added points in the championship, Monte Carlo’s performance was seen as positive inside the team, mainly because he passed his teammate, Nico Hülkenberg, in rhythm and placement.
The victory was Lando Norris, of McLaren, who dominated the race and pocketed the dispute for the top of the table. Charles Leclerc (Ferrari) and Oscar Pasters (McLaren) completed the podium.
