Winner of the first Brazilian Oscar, I’m still here, Walter Salles (Central do Brasil) Starring by FERNANDA TORRES (Tapas & Kisses), entered the list of The New York Times of best films released in 2025 so far.
In his criticism for the newspaper, Alissa Wilkinson highlighted the performance of FERNANDA TORRES As one of the highlights of the feature, which won the best international film award in this year’s edition of the Oscar, the biggest cinema awards:
“In his performance – which yielded an Oscar Golden Globe and nomination – Torres impresses. Protecting his children means finding joy in fear, hope in pain. Torres covers his performance with all these emotions, and his penetrating gaze is magnetic.”wrote the criticism.
What is the story of I’m still here?
Based on the book of the same name of MARCELO RUBENS PAIVA, I’m still hereis set in Rio de Janeiro in the early 1970s, amid the military dictatorship, and tells the story of Eunice (FERNANDA TORRES, Tapas & Kisses), mother of five, who engages in an endless search for the truth after her husband, Rubens (Selton Mello, The Auto da Compadecida 2), be brought by police to the landscape and disappear.
