We visited Campo Do Guarani, Team of Cuore della Cafu, and we talked to Parças from Quebrada, in the south of San Paolo
Summary
Jardim Irene residents built Guarani Campo, where Cafu began in the 80s. The results of the team and their young people arrived, in particular the penta. Information about a next title of the National Team, now with Ancelotti, “there is no other solution but the great victories and great results”, says Cafu.
Cafu turns 55 on June 7, 2025 with at least another birthday to be celebrated in the month: the conquest of the five -stroke football championship every 30 °. The captain of the national team raised the cup with “100% Jardim Irene” written on the T -Shirt, in honor of his route. In this birthday, we went to visit the field and the team in which Cafu started.
“When he played here, in the 1980s, Jardim Irene was a very precarious place. He had no toilet -basic hearing services, it was a dangerous region, with a lot of violence. Even so, ran after. He was training the hitchhiking on the bus, jumping through the rear door”, recalls Dário Alves Dos Santos, 45, coach.

João de Ilda, a historical figure by Jardim Irene, recalls how the community was structuring the terrestrial football field in the early 1980s. “It was not standing, it was not paved and the water of the stream descended from the exclusion and cut the field. We had to unite and start making ditches for water to drain,” remembers Ilda.
“If you rained midweek, what did we do on Saturday, we collected the crowd and we came to take the field so on Sunday to be able to play a ball,” says the resident. With the time and social work of the Cafu, the companies put the synthetic grass and surround the field, which the community naturally calls “Campo do Cafu”.

Guarani, a winning team
Cafra’s first team in Broken was the extinct youth. The second, with which the most identifies, is the social union of the sporting Guarani, founded in 1985. Cafu was 15 years old. A decisive moment of the team’s trajectory took place in 1992, in the merger with another team of Jardim Irene, Marciano.
They had just won the saint bitter cup, Youth Championship. “Nobody believed, but in the end we won Juventus from three to one, with a basic team. It was unforgettable,” recalls João Marcolino de Menezes, president of the International Association of Interest, founded in Jardim Irene a year before Guarani.
Among the recent results is the Copa Base Vem Fort (2020), Fernanda De Veteran Park Copa (2022), classified by the Mutirão Cup (2025). Right now, they are in the quarterfinals of the U17 Soap Cup.

Another broken team, the Jardim Irene complex, was third in Favelas Cup in San Paolo, in 2023. Semi -Finals have fallen to the penalty. They went far and proud. “It is this type of result that shows the strength of our community,” says Marcolino.
For Cafu, only another cup reports the love of the national team
Uoshington Luis Costa de Lana, 55, president of Guarani, played with Cafu and celebrates the Jardim Irene conquest complex. “I am very happy to see that the boys continued a project I believed. The Favela Cup was a result, but we will go on in the dispute, in this and in the coming years,” says the president.
Speaking of today, what do the people involved in football in Jardim Irene think of the direction of this sport? “Everything was further away. But here, on course, the inspiration continues,” says Menezes. And Cafu himself, what do you think? When asked about the selection, it is exhaustive.
“There is no other solution but the great victories and great results. I think it alone reports people and make us believe in the work of the national team”, Cafu ties.
Where is Irene Garden?
Cafu was born in Italy, or Itquá, a city at the end of the east of San Paolo, but was created throughout the capital, to Jardim Irene, to the south. “We are children of this place, everyone followed the Cafu walk from the beginning,” says Marcelo Evangelista De Moraes, brother of the Penta captain.
The break is located in the far south of San Paolo, on the border with Embu Das Artes. The connection between the territories is so strong that the symbol of Guarani, founded in 1981, brings “Jardim Irene” and “Embu Das Artes”.

The places are separated from the flow of Pirajussara, where the Cafu swims during the childhood, before the waste water takes over. The professions that gave rise to the Airne Garden were regularized in 2004.
“Today the neighborhood has evolved a lot, thanks to God, but we still have a lot to do,” says Guarani’s coach U17.
