Bad news for filmmakers! This emblem place in Paris will soon close its doors

Miramar’s cinema, located in the Montparnasse district of Paris, finally closes the door after the very last session of the movie Ma Mère, God and Silvi Vartan, scheduled for June 9, 2025.

As Salles-Cinéma recalls, the inauguration of Joseph Romeman in 1938, Miramar was in front of the old Montparnasse station before he moved behind the Montparnasse Tower in the late 1960s. In the current place of June 18, 18, 1940, he had a large one room with a balcony that was proud.

Historic

In addition to being a symbol of the cinema, Miramar also has a rich history – the great “H” – by its founder, whose fate has changed during the occupation. Vitchi’s anti -semitic laws have really confiscated it in two institutions: Miramar and Treter de Montrog, located in Alsia. Forced to exile, Joseph Rhythman will only find his property after the war after a long legal battle.

The following decades were celebrated for this independent operator in the golden age, nicknamed “Emperor of Montparnasse”. For thirty glorious years, he developed a real cinematic empire in the neighborhood with the opening of new rooms, such as Britan (1961), Bienvenue Montparnasse (1972) and Montparnos (1981).

Miramar and Brittany quickly became prestigious rooms that were recognized for exclusive programming on the left bank of Paris. After the death of Joseph Romeman in 1983, his daughter Benjamin Rhymman-Radvanski adopted a family business, modernized their rooms with advanced technologies (wide, digital screens) and ensured their influence in 2009 before their integration.

The closure of Miramar, therefore, points out the important of its significant itself in Paris. The Pathé was provided with a project that includes Miramar in the Pathé Parnasse Complex (including 12 rooms) and offered him direct access from Place Du 18-1940. Unfortunately, this project has never seen the light of the day and now we have to say goodbye to the real monument.
