“Joker 2” has a release date; to know more

The sequel to “Joker”, the 2019 DC film starring Joaquin Phoenix, titled “Folie à Deux”, has gotten a release date.

The film will see the return of Phoenix as the protagonist, the Joker, known in the comics as one of the main villains of Batman, and which earned him the Oscar for best actor. Todd Phillips also returns as director and screenwriter, after announcing the production of the film on his Instagram.

Another big revelation about the film, made by The Hollywood Reporter, is that Lady Gaga will star in the film alongside Phoenix, in what is speculated to be the role of Harley Quinn, experienced by Margot Robbie in the DC Extended Universe. Gaga’s involvement in “Joker 2” could also lead to the film having more musical elements, according to THR.

But while there is already information that the film is in the works with major returns of the protagonist and director, in addition to the addition of Gaga to the cast, there was still no release date for the film. This changes now, according to the magazine Deadline.

According to the US magazine, Warner Bros. expects a release date for “Joker: Folie à Deux”, a French expression meaning “madness for two”, for October 4, 2024. Additionally, the magazine reported that the production of the sequel will begin as early as December this year. .

Initially, “Joker” was conceived as a standalone movie, but a sequel ended up fueling box office and critical acclaim, as well as 11 Oscar nominations including Best Picture and Awards for Phoenix and also for soundtrack of the film.

With all the hardships that Warner Bros. has struggled to achieve success with its DC Comics-based films, it makes sense that the studio decided to expand on successful examples such as “Joker” and the recent “Batman”, which also got authorization for a sequel.

So, if the forecasts hold up, the theatrical release of “Joker: Folie à Deux” will be on October 4, 2024.
