What few remember (or prefer to forget) is that in two films in the franchise Friday 13, Jason Voorhees is not the killer; Know which
Over 40 years, Jason Voorhees consolidated as one of the greatest icons of horror cinema slasher. With his hockey and machete mask in hand, the killer became synonymous with the franchise Friday 13. But what few remember (or prefer to forget) is that in two films in the series, Jason is not the killer. Check out what are the only two movies in which this happens:
1. Friday 13 (1980)
In the original movie, Jason is still just a legend: a boy who allegedly drowned at the Crystal Lake camp. The series begins with her mother’s revenge, Pamela Voorhees, who kills the camp monitors because they blame them all for her son’s death. Only in the end it is revealed that she is the killer. Jason appears briefly in a dream (or supernatural) scene, emerging from the lake, which generated his mythology for the next films.
2. Friday 13-Part 5: A New Beginning (1985)
In this chapter, after the bloody events of previous films, Jason’s trauma still haunts Tommy Jarvis, survivor of the fourth movie. Several murders begin to occur again, apparently by the same Jason. But in the end, it is found that the killer is actually Roy Burns, a paramedic whose son was killed in a fight in the rehab center where Tommy is. Roy assumes Jason’s identity as a disguise to perform his revenge.
3. The controversy of Jason goes to hell (1993)
Also, in Jason goes to hell (1993), what appears is not the traditional Jason, but an evil entity that can have bodies and resurrect, using Jason only as a vehicle to spread terror, a reinterpretation that divided the fans, as it escapes the immortal and physical figure we know. In the movie, his heart is devoured by the responsible for his remains in the morgue and the curse spreads. Anyway, it is the “spirit” of Jason who practices the murders.
