“House of the Dragon” will feature 9 dragons: these are some of the ones we could see

At Comic-Con 2022 in July, the first trailer for “House of the Dragon” was released, and details such as Arya Stark’s dagger were seen, as well as the presence of different dragons.

This series takes place 200 years before the events of “Game of Thrones” and the story focuses on a civil war in Westeros between the Targaryen family, known as the Dance of the Dragon.

On August 2, 2022, prequel co-showrunner Miguel Sapochnik told “Empire” magazine that 9 of the 17 dragons that exist in the “House of the Dragon” universe will appear in the first season, and each will have a different personality.

Having confirmed that we will see many of these mythical creatures flying through Westeros, these are some of the dragons that may appear in HBO’s ‘House of the Dragon’.

syrax

In the series “House of the Dragon” the heir to the iron throne, Rhaenyra Targaryen (Emma D’Arcy / Milly Alcock), rides this dragon with yellow scales.

His size is large among dragons, but while he is formidable in battle he has not seen as many as the dragon Caraxes. Likewise, Rhaenyra Targaryen tries to keep her out of battle as much as possible.

vhargar

This dragon in the mythology of “Game of Thrones” is one of the largest, strongest and oldest, being part of the three legendary dragons that conquered Westeros in the past.

She is ridden by Visenya Targaryen and by the time of the series she is associated with Aemond Targaryen, the second son of King Viserys Targaryen and his second wife Alicent Hightower.

Caraxes

Daemon Targaryen (Matt Smith), the prince and brother of the king of Westeros, is the one who rides this great blood-red dragon, which is one of the largest among these creatures.

Caraxes has an important role in the civil war, being one of the most feared dragons by humans, participating in many battles and fighting against other dragons such as Vhagar.

Sunfyre

Aegon II (Tom Glynn-Carney), one of the claimants to the Iron Throne, is the one who rides this golden-scaled dragon, which is described as a magnificent creature that cuts through the air.

Also known as Sunfyre the Golden because his scales glow with sunlight, this dragon is very brave and powerful. However, events in the war cause him to lose an eye and his ability to fly.

Moondancer

This young dragon is ridden by Baela Targaryen (Bethany Antonia), the daughter of Daemon Targaryen (Matt Smith), and due to its tremendous speed it is one of the creatures that fight best in the air.

He is described as a very beautiful creature, very fast, with pale green scales. Unlike other dragons, his body is much thinner.
