“Rahan, son of raging ages, Rahan, swifter than the wind”, this cartoon aired on Canal+ in 1987 and was later released on VHS. Rahan, Son of the Cruel Ages, is adapted from a comic book by Roger Lecoureux and Andre Chere and published in the magazine. Pip Gadget.
The story is set in “Over 500,000 Seasons” and follows the journey of Rahan, son of Krao, who sets out in search of the “Nest of the Sun” after a volcanic eruption destroys his village. . Along the way, he will spread the values of kindness and friendship among peoples. The 26th and final episode, Rahan’s Death, offers a really strong plot twist to end the series.
From the age of 8
It all begins when a man named Atko arrives in the village with important news: Rahan is dead. Clouds of smoke, tam-tams and other means of communication will broadcast the information to all the villages that Rahane has passed through since the start of the series. where he left a great memory.
Atko
Atko tells those who realize that “The wizard Handak was killed in a fair fight” Then tells us the whole story, which we discover in flashback. We find the witch Khandak about to be devoured by a mountain (a saber cat) in front of Atko, petrified with fear. Rahan comes to their aid and saves the life of Khandak, who invites him to rest in his village.
On the way, Atko, who is the head of the village, behaves strangely, convinced that Khandak has conquered the hill alone. On the ground, the entire clan seems apathetic. The hunters are Rakyans and they are sitting on the ground looking at me blankly. Handdak then explains to Rahan that he is feeding the village with his drink, a drug.

A village under the influence of drugs
The son of Feral Ages strongly opposes Handak and resists his attempts at hypnosis. He leaves the village and after some time returns with the “long horn” which he chased away. The clan is able to feed, but the sorceress, displeased, challenges Rahan to single-handed combat on a hill overlooking the camp and “Until Death Comes”.
Despite promising a fair fight, Handdak uses poison arrows. After wounding Rahan, who begins to lose his strength, the magician shoots him in the body with two projectiles, in an image that is still shocking today!

Rahani was killed
END OF FLASHBACK, BACK TO THE PRESENT: Atko has finished his story and is chased with stones: the tribes that Rahan helped want revenge. That’s why they take weapons and go to the village of Atko. The chief returns home to warn his clan, but his members, under the influence of Khandak’s drugs, remain indifferent. First of all: the master is gone.

Handduck and his drugs
On the hill where his body was left, Rahan suddenly wakes up! He has no signs of injury. Handdak then reappears and reveals the truth. Before their duel, he made the entire village drink a hallucinogenic potion, which allowed him to trick the clan into thinking he was killing Rahan, when in fact he had simply put him to sleep with his first arrow. Thus, he wanted to maintain his prestige and authority, which was undermined by the arrival of Krao’s son.
Rahan arrives just in time to prevent the clans, who want to avenge his death, from ruining Atko’s death. Handak repents and states that thanks to Rahan, he realized that: “True happiness cannot be eaten or drunk”.
It should be noted that apart from being an anti-drug episode, Rahan’s death is somewhat of a violent episode for young viewers as we literally see the hero pierced by two arrows and the character remains officially dead for several minutes. The revelation comes to comfort the audience. A bold bet on the last adventure of the final season!
