The general sport law provides that clubs with stadiums with a capacity of over 20,000 places had until June 14 to implement the system
The military police of the State of San Paolo approved the equipment for the Corinthians to use facial recognition in the Neo Chemical Arena against RB Bragantino, on July 13th. Therefore, the club experiences expectations of having the maximum ability to the stadium.
The possibility of not having 100% of the public in the game is due to non -compliance with the period established by the general sports law for the implementation of the facial recognition system. Therefore, the Corinthians await a flexibility of the prosecutor, who should issue a relationship that authorizes the total presence of fans this week.
The legislation accuses facial recognition in the stadiums
According to article 148 of the general sport law (law 14,597/2023), the clubs with stadiums with a capacity of over 20,000 places had until June 14 to fully implement the facial recognition system. Otherwise, they are subject to acting with an audience limited to 19,999 people.
The military police understand that, in order for the club to comply with the law, 100% of the fans present in the match against RB Bragantino must access the stadium through facial recognition. Corinthians’s Department of Technology does not recommend this total implementation without more solid tests, fearing operational failures.
The Corinthians, however, negotiate a gradual adoption of the system, with an estimated period of seven games up to the consolidation of the process. The Corinthian proposal is that 100% of the tickets sold will be intended for fans with the face already collected. However, the full use of the system must take place gradually.
