Netflix released the official trailer and debut date of Apocalypse in the tropicsnew documentary of PETRA COSTAdirector of the Oscar nominated Democracy in Vertigo (2019). Debut at the 81st International Film Festival of Venice and participation in other international film festivals, the documentary has script and direction of PETRA COSTAand production of PETRA COSTA and ALESSANDRA OROFINO.

The video offers a first look at the film, which features unpublished testimonials of emblematic figures of Brazilian politics, such as the President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silvathe former president Jair Bolsonaro and the evangelical leader Silas Malafaia.

What is it about?

Narrated from the perspective of the filmmaker, the documentary starts from a deep investigation to analyze the growth of evangelical faith in Brazil and its impacts on the political and social context in the last ten years, especially the participation of evangelical leaders in the country’s political decisions.

In Apocalypse in the tropics, PETRA COSTA It investigates the increase in the participation of evangelical leaders in the country’s political decisions. With exclusive access to emblematic figures such as the President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silvathe former president Jair Bolsonaroand the famous televangelist Silas Malafaiathe filmmaker investigates the deep role that the evangelical movement played in Brazil’s recent political turbulence.

When to debut?
